How did I Become a Peer Mentor - EU Referendum (The Results)

24/6/2016

On Tuesday, this week, 4th lesson, I had to go to a meeting involving Peer Mentor - which I didn't apply for!
Unsuspectingly, I’ve received a badge, to be recognised by others as a Peer Mentor.

That's how my badge looks like on its own and on the tie.
Looks like I might not actually wear this badge for longer because there is a slight chance my dad wants me to move to Charles Dickens School, which I also want him to do - at last!
Haven't explained what a Peer Mentor is yet, have I? I'm going to do it now:

A Peer Mentor is a pupil’s Mentor (that means me) - preferably an Year 7 - that you help get to his lessons and help him with his timetable and stuff that he doesn't know about what happens in a Secondary School. This categorises in the Form Tutor, kind of stuff.
I'm not the only one who is a Peer Mentor, there are loads of Peer Mentors in our school, especially in our Year - Year 8. There’s about 10 people in my form, that are Peer Mentor - and many of them didn't even apply for it, just like me.
This happened because those that have been selected, just like me, have good grades and many achievement points. Achievement points are reward points - like VivoMiles - but currently, we are not buying anything.
Now, enough of this. Need to talk about important things - like the EU Referendum.
As you might know, the UK has voted to leave the European Union. The results were very close : 48.2% to stay and 51.9% to leave.
But who knows - everything might change in these 2-5 years after the Referendum has happened! I’m not an expert in these things.
This has had an effect on, not just on the UK, but the whole of Europe, as well. Here are some of the situations that have been happening in the past 72 hours :

  • The Netherlands and France want to hold a Referendum as well, regarding the membership with the EU.

  • Also, Romania is involved in this - but not the country. It's actually one of the counties. You might get confused, but you know what I mean.
